manraygun/Clinker piece at London ICA

The collaboration between alt-roots rockers manraygun and experimental electronic artist Clinker (aka Gary James Joynes) has yielded an unexpected benefit, as Clinker’s remix of the band’s Acme to Irricana (from their album Everything is Temporary) was recently selected for the SoundFjord Museum at Nights evening at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art on Saturday, May 14.

Over two hundred applicants were considered for the evening, which features works of an international scope that discuss “The Sublimated Landscape / Sonic Topology.” Clinker’s remix, Due South (Towards Irricana), was produced with the band for forthcoming project in conjunction with iHuman, an organization that supports Edmonton youth at risk with youth arts programming. For Clinker it’s just one of many recent achievements, including a successful run of his Frequency Painting: Twelve Tones at Latitude 53, performances of Vector Rails (with Adam Tindale) and a number of live shows across North America.

This is the second of two musical meetings in just over a year for Clinker and manraygun, the first being a highly successful live show at the Edmonton Art Gallery, pointing the way to many more in the future.

Summer Shows

Cabin Fever has subsided. Snow mold is dissipating. We've been in pre-pro for a new album and just writing a ton of new tunes! Everyone has also been busy with side projects, especially Ev and Tom… new recording and gigs with Idyl Tea (a reunion of Ev's old band), the Alice Kos Band and 100 Mile House.
