The collaboration between alt-roots rockers manraygun and experimental electronic artist Clinker (aka Gary James Joynes) has yielded an unexpected benefit, as Clinker’s remix of the band’s Acme to Irricana (from their album Everything is Temporary) was recently selected for the SoundFjord Museum at Nights evening at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art on Saturday, May 14.

Over two hundred applicants were considered for the evening, which features works of an international scope that discuss “The Sublimated Landscape / Sonic Topology.” Clinker’s remix, Due South (Towards Irricana), was produced with the band for forthcoming project in conjunction with iHuman, an organization that supports Edmonton youth at risk with youth arts programming. For Clinker it’s just one of many recent achievements, including a successful run of his Frequency Painting: Twelve Tones at Latitude 53, performances of Vector Rails (with Adam Tindale) and a number of live shows across North America.

This is the second of two musical meetings in just over a year for Clinker and manraygun, the first being a highly successful live show at the Edmonton Art Gallery, pointing the way to many more in the future.

Cabin Fever has subsided. Snow mold is dissipating. We've been in pre-pro for a new album and just writing a ton of new tunes! Everyone has also been busy with side projects, especially Ev and Tom… new recording and gigs with Idyl Tea (a reunion of Ev's old band), the Alice Kos Band and 100 Mile House. Manraygun recently performed at the Art Gallery of Alberta at a fundraising auction for creativecause.ca. In keeping with numerous recent manraygun shows that featured guest members, Manraygun was joined by the electronic music and video artist known as "Clinker". The gig occured on Thursday, October 7, 2010.

Manraygun with Alice Kos on CBC - Live from the 2010 Edmonton Fringe

Manraygun will be making a special appearance on CBC Radio Active to be broadcast live from the 2010 Edmonton Fringe Festival on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 between 3 and 6 pm (CBC Radio 1). Manraygun will feature special guest member Alice Kos on guitar, keys and vocals especially for the show.

CBC Radio Active will be featuring bands as well as fringe plays live from the festival beer tent on August 17, 18 and 19. The line-up is:

Wednesday, August 18: Manraygun with guest member Alice Kos
Thursday, August 19: The Provincial Archive

Manraygun plays Festival Place tonight!

Manraygun will be performing in Sherwood Park tonight at Festival Place ( tickets available here). Tickets $8 @ the door. Early show time: 7:30 pm (Manraygun will likely hit the stage before 9 pm - come early!).

This evening's show will feature special guest guitarist Curtis Ross, who also joined Manraygun at Calgary's Ironwood Stage gig. Guitarist Everett LaRoi has temporarily moved over to two-finger keyboards due to a finger injury (see photo by Fish Griwkowsky below). Calum Graham is warming up the show.

This just in: Manraygun will be opening up for Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans and Ridley Bent at The Edmonton Event Centre on Friday, February 26. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

ManRayGun will also be in Calgary for a free afternoon show at The Palamino Smokehouse on Friday, March 12. The Palmino is located at 109 - 7th Avenue SW.

ManRayGun has announced two upcoming shows in hometown Edmonton, Canada. The first show will be a rough and tumble free event on Whyte Avenue at The BlackDog Freehouse (10425 – Whyte Avenue) on Wednesday night, January 20 .

The second show will be an intimate early show at Edmonton’s cozy Blue Chair Cafe on Friday, February 19 (9624 – 76 ave. Reservations and tix: reso@bluechair.ca)

We're happy to announce the release of our new 16 track compact disc “Everything is Temporary”. The cd is available in Edmonton at Megatunes and Blackbyrd Myoozik. The cd will also be available from HMV, Chapters-Indigo and amazon.com stores beginning in December. The digital version of the cd will be available from itunes and numerous other digital platforms starting in January 2010.
